			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Has this ever happened to you? You forgot about a potluck you were invited to this evening and realize you don&#8217;t have a dish to bring. Not only that, but you&#8217;re supposed to be there in an hour. What should you do?</p>
<p>Time is ticking and you feel like you only have three options: 1) Don&#8217;t go and miss out on a really good time. 2) Go without a dish and admit that you forgot. 3) Go home and get one of your nice bowls and stop at the deli on your way to the potluck to fill it up.</p>
<p>Since none of those options really appeal to you, I think I have a solution; pasta salad! By keeping a few ingredients on hand at all times, you can easily throw together a tasty treat in virtually minutes. Starting with pasta and salad dressing, you can build yourself a dish that will suit any potluck. Let&#8217;s get started.</p>
<p>Standard pastas like penne, shell, rotini, and even macaroni noodles will make a fine pasta salad once you add your personal touch. If you have a lot of partially full boxes of different pastas, just mix them together. Be sure to cook similarly sized pastas together. If you&#8217;re cooking penne with angel hair pasta, you&#8217;ll run into trouble because the cooking time is different. You would want to cook these types of pasta in separate pots.</p>
<p>When it comes to the dressing, you&#8217;ll do fine if you use any of the standard salad dressings like Italian and Ranch style. Keep a few varieties in the pantry at all times and you&#8217;ll be prepared for just about any food emergency. Of course, if you&#8217;re ambitious, it&#8217;s not difficult to whip up your own homemade dressing using ingredients like olive oil, Dijon mustard, honey, balsamic vinegar, or whatever you like.</p>
<p>So, what do you do once you have the pasta cooked and drained? First, pick out the dressing you&#8217;re going to use. Then, put the pasta in a big bowl and, while the pasta is still warm, pour the dressing over the pasta, mixing to combine. Be sure to do this while the pasta is warm so it will absorb all that good flavor. Don&#8217;t pour in too much dressing; you&#8217;ll want to taste as you go and add more if needed.</p>
<p>Time to get creative. Check your pantry and fridge for tasty ingredients like frozen peas, canned chickpeas, fresh tomatoes, broccoli, celery, mushrooms, cheese, olives, or whatever sounds good to you. Grab that bag of almonds and chop them up, too. How about those few slices of pepperoni? Sounds good to me.</p>
<p>Add leftover chicken or open a can of tuna if you like. The trick is to taste as you go. Just take a little pasta and dressing mixture out of the big bowl and put it into a little bowl. Add your ingredients, a little at a time, and taste as you go. Once you&#8217;re satisfied put it all together in the big serving bowl, slip on a cover, and you are good to go!</p>

<p>Those who turn away from this traditional way of eating and choose a vegetarian diet are often considered &#8220;granola-head hippies&#8221;&#8230;or even just plain odd.</p>
<p>But more and more people these days are discovering the many health benefits of a vegetarian diet. Additionally, more physicians and scientists are prescribing and endorsing plant-based meals in order to promote health, prevent and treat certain diseases, and even to reduce weight.</p>
<p>Although the concept of vegetarianism is seen by many as being a relatively new concept, it has in fact been around for hundreds of years already. In fact, this is especially apparent in countries such as India for example, where a large percentage of the population refrain from eating meat, either for spiritual reasons or for health reasons. Interestingly enough, a group of people living near the Himalayan Mountains, known as the &#8220;Hunza&#8221;, are devout vegetarians, and if reports are anything to go by, many of them live past the age of 100.</p>
<p>According to the American Dietetic Association, A vegetarian diet includes a number of benefits. These include: 1) reduced cholesterol; 2) reduced levels of saturated fat; 3) enhanced levels of important minerals and antioxidant vitamins; 4) lower body fat; 5) lower risk of heart disease; 6) lower blood pressure; 7) lower risk of type-2 diabetes; and 8) lower instances of several cancers.</p>
<p>Obesity has become one of the leading health concerns in the United States as well as in several other western countries. Ironically however, obesity can be successfully managed with a vegetarian diet. This is essentially because such diets reduce the amount of protein and animal fat been consumed, while at the same time increasing the amount of fiber in a person&#8217;s diet, bearing in mind that foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains contain plenty of fiber. It has also been noted that a vegetarian diet can help a person to maintain lower body mass index (BMI), and of course this is vital terms of being able to treat and manage a number of chronic illnesses such as heart disease for example.</p>
<p>One of the biggest reasons for many people being hesitant to adopt a vegetarian diet is because they are concerned that their body won&#8217;t be getting a sufficient amount of protein. <p>Vegans will not eat meat, eggs, dairy products, or any other kind of animal products for that matter.</p>
<p>There are many medical and health organizations that promote, endorse, and support people on a path toward changing their dietary lifestyle to one that includes more plant-based foods.</p>

<p>A dessert at the end of a meal is a necessity for me, so you can imagine how many I&#8217;ve eaten in my time. Here are just a few that I have enjoyed.</p>

<p>You may make chocolate mousse on a regular basis, but how often do you use white chocolate? You may not feel as if it will taste like a real mousse, but trust me, it is. You may well end up preferring the white version.</p>
<p>Be a bit more adventurous with your chocolate mousse next time you make it. Most of us like summer fruits like Raspberries, so why not drizzle some into the mousse to give the chocolate a bit of fruitiness.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Gluten is a protein contained in grains like rye, wheat, barley and certain oats. Some people find it hard to digest therefore it can irritate the digestive tract and other organs. Here are three delicious and easy-to-make gluten free recipes &#8211; a tasty starter, a spicy main course, and a yummy dessert.</p>
<p>Chicken and Corn Soup: You will need a whole chicken (skin removed and cut into portions), one peeled and sliced carrot, a chopped onion, six black peppercorns, a celery stalk (chopped), one bay leaf, a quart of water, a tin of creamed corn (8 ounces) and one bay leaf.</p>
<p>Put all the ingredients into a large wok or saucepan over medium heat. Bring to the boil, then simmer for 30 minutes. Strain the stock and remove the chicken. Add the strained stock back into the mixture. Add the creamed corn and stir. Bring to the boil and allow it to simmer for five minutes. Shred the chicken into pieces and stir in.</p>
<p>Chili Colorado. Ingredients: two pounds lean beef cut into cubes, 3 tablespoons rice flour, one crushed garlic clove, quarter cup extra virgin olive oil, quarter cup of chili powder (more if you like), 5 cups beef stock, and 1 teaspoon of sea salt. Cover the beef cubes with rice flour. Ensure they are evenly coated.</p>
<p>Heat the olive oil over medium heat in a large skillet. Add the beef and reduce the heat to low. Stir and cook for about 8 minutes until the beef is tender and browned. Add the garlic and the remaining rice flour and cook for a further 2 minutes. Add chili powder and stir.</p>
<p>Pour in the beef broth and add the sea salt. Let the mixture boil on a medium heat. When boiled, turn the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Cook for slightly longer if the beef is not properly cooked and the sauce has not thickened.</p>
<p>Toffee and Cinnamon Apples. Ingredients: 2 tablespoons of white sugar, half a cup of butter, four peeled apples (core and slice into thin wedges), half a teaspoon of powdered cinnamon, four tablespoons of thick cream, half a cup of pecan nuts, and 10 pieces of caramel.</p>
<p>Stir the butter, cinnamon and sugar in a large skillet until the sugar dissolves. Put the apples in a pan &#8211; stir and cook for 5 minutes until they color and soften, then add the caramel. Reduce heat and stir until the caramel has melted. Add the pecans and cream, stir and simmer for a minute or two. Cool slightly, then serve. That&#8217;s it &#8211; three lovely gluten free recipes.</p>
