Free style, also famously known as the sidestroke, is a fascinating swimming style. As the name tells, it’s a free style type of swimming, so there are no strict regulations for this type of swimming. Even the usage of water resistant mineral foundation or mineral make up won’t charge you in competitions. Whether the swimmer wants to choose front crawl, breast stroke, butterfly stroke or the backstroke it’s totally upon him. However, in case of medley challenges, you will find that the breast stroke along with the butterfly stroke are not permissible.

Before learning freestyle, you need to prepare for the training. Assemble all the essentials that you may need for swimming. Swimsuits, swimming caps, goggles, nose clip are some of the fundamental accessories that every swimmer has to bring along when going for swimming. The moment you’re all set to start learning, then here are the suggestions that will teach you how to swim using this style:

First of all, you have to realize the axis of your body going from the chin to the chest. This is mainly the pivotal area of the body. This region should be pushed forward straight ahead by your movements while swimming.

Keep your legs straight and loose and point your toes outwards, then kick up and down in the water. It’s the kicking practice that you need while doing the free style swimming.

The flexion of your arm muscles should be flexible like a windmill running within the water. Make sure that you move your arms reverse of each other. The moment one of your arms is in the extended position, the other one should remain all the way back along the side of your body.

During the freestyle motion, your palms should be flat such that the thumbs are separated from the first fingers. Bend your arm in a way that you can pull your fingertips parallel the imaginary axis of your body.

Next, you need to pull your next arm out of the water and move it forward when your other arm is moving beneath you. Next, twist your elbow and move your fingertips along the surface of the water. The movement of your finger tips through the water by completely stretching the arm will provide a force for you to move ahead.

You can breathe by facing your head to the side of the arm that is towards the surface of water. In this manner, you can breathe the moment one of your hands is up and out of the water.

During this freestyle movement, it’s recommendable to stretch every stroke without halting the windmill motion. The more elongation there is in every stroke, the less exertion you will feel. Besides, you must try to keep yourself horizontal in the water. An energetic kick will prevent you from sinking.

These were some of the tips and pointers for swimmers who are seeking training for freestyle motions. These suggestions will certainly change your swimming experience into a great and exciting experience.
